Carlos Campos & Luiza Leitão: 1ST DATE

Carlos Campos & Luiza Leitão: 1𝘴𝘵 DATE

Carlos and Luiza exhibit works that lie on the edge of what a photograph or a sculpture can be in a traditional framework. The chemigrams allows the artist to paint the photos while the two dimensional cutouts are assembled in a way that creates volume to the sculpture, both are results from a similar work flow of spontaneous body expression in a meditative/non rational state of mind. Dealing with abstraction in organic ways, presented shapes fall far from identifiable forms of the everyday, leaving the subconscious to create the relation between what one sees and what one knows, finding space to feel rather than to think.

BIO
Carlos Campos (1991) is a multimedia artist born and based in Porto, Portugal. His works mix photography, installation and sound. Most recently he has focused his attention on chemigrams, these explore his body consciousness and subconscious mental states. He studied photography in Instituto Português de Fotografia, IPF and has exhibited his work in Porto, Lisbon and Italy. He is also the founder and manages DENTRO, an artist-run space in Porto.

Luiza Leitão (1992) was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and is based in Porto, Portugal since 2017. The artist is interested in a creative process that refuses the tradition of fixed objects, setting free her creations to ever change with an installation assembly mindset. She is an undergrad Fine Arts student at FBAUP and has shown pieces at PEDREIRA, 2020, and participated in Organismus Katharsis performance at LisboaSoa, 2021.
